Jørgen Ingmann - Apache (1961) b/w The Champs - Tequila (1958), Eric Records, Regent Music Corp.
Possibly one of the greatest instrumentals ever written. There are many versions of this track, but Ingmann’s is considerably extraordinary. I dig his twangy-western guitar style, and the break is unbelievably mind-altering.
The most famous cover of “Apache” is The Incredible Bongo Band’s version, which became, and still remains Hip Hop’s B-Boy anthem.
Whichever version, you can set your heartbeat to “Apache.”
Listen
*I’ll post a write up on The Champs - Tequila using the original 7” because Eric’s version sounds very thin.
