Bubble Puppy - Hot Smoke And Sassafrass a/w The Music Machine - Talk Talk, 1985 (Repress), Original Sound Records
The b-side to “Talk Talk.” A nice rocker straight from San Antone! ”Hot Smoke And Sassafrass” was a hit single released in 1969 by the band Bubble Puppy. The track is driven by dual lead guitars, which was unexpected in psychedelic music. It appeared on their debut, and only album - A Gathering Of Promises. Apparently, the track name came from a misheard excerpt from the Beverly Hillbillies!
More interestingly, the band name came from the game “Centrifugal Bumble-Puppy” depicted in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World.
