Stealers Wheel - Stuck In The Middle With You b/w Jose, Stealers Wheel, 1972, A&M Records, Inc., The Hudson Bay Music Co.
“Joe Egan and Gerry Refferty were a duo known as Stealers Wheel; when they recorded this Dylan-esque, pop-bubblegum favorite from April of 1974. That reached up to number 5. It’s K-Billy’s Super Sounds of the Seventies continues”.
It’s difficult to explain what this song means to me. There’s an intense sense of well-being to it, yet the weight of grief is the subject matter. These guys took some ‘worst situation possible,’ and made this damn brilliant song possible.
I am quite pleased with this record. Look at that sleeve!
Thank you Quentin Tarantino for confirming my conviction that cops aren’t real people.
K-Billy, undoubtedly, had a rad selection of music. However, the DJ was incorrect about one thing: “Stuck In The Middle” was recorded in 1972. That’s all semantics though, it’s neither here nor there, just like being stuck in the middle.
