The Balloon Farm - A Question Of Temperature b/w Hurtin’ For Your Love, 1967, Laurie Records Inc., H & L Music Corp.
This 45 is definitely in my dooms day crate. When it first came into my possession, from a dear friend who had a death grip on it, I played it back-to-back-to-back-to-back. Then I went to bed, woke up and played it all day on the hour. No joke, this went on for a week straight! I still enjoy it just as much. Now, after four years of thoroughly enjoying it for myself, I release it for you, my peoples.
The Balloon Farm was a band from New Jersey, who got the gnarliest band name from an NYC nightclub. A Question Of Temperature was their one hit wonder, which actually charted at #37! Sadly, the band dismantled before recording a full length Lp.
Fun facts: The first pressings contained typos; ‘Temperature’ was ‘Tempature,’ and producer Peter Schekeryk was, and still remains ‘Shekeryk.’ If you ever find the original pressing with said typos, hold on tight and never let it go.
I also want to point out: Producer Peter Schekeryk went on to manage, and marry Melanie. Cheers!
*Come to find out: Peter Schekeryk passed on earlier this year. R.I.P. Braddah. Thank you.
